Employee Absenteeism is costing the Canadian economy 16 Billion dollars a year!

Did you know that Employee absences are costing the Canadian economy an estimated 16.6 billion dollars annually according to 2013 conference board of Canada report[1] and growing every year?

It has been noted that 52% of absenteeism from the work place is a non illness related absence. The leader of this non illness related absence is Stress. Stress can be from both inside the work place, (co-worker/boss related, incident related, the feelings of over worked) and life stress (elder care, child care, finances, etc.).

This unscheduled absence is costing the employer approximately $3,600 per year for hourly workers.

  • Wages paid to absent employees (sick pay)

  • High cost replacement workers (overtime pay for other employees)

  • Admin costs of managing absenteeism

Stress is very real and is the cause of many illnesses from the every day cold/flu, headaches, migraines, irritability, muscle fatigue all the way to auto immune diseases and insulin related diseases.

How we deal and manage stress is the defining factor between being present and absenteeism.

Reflexology can be a natural, low cost option to offsetting the effects of stress on overall health.

Reflexology endeavors to treat the body, mind and spirit as a cohesive system by getting to the cause of disease not its symptoms. Reflexology possesses the capacity to cancel out the effects of stress while it helps the body to reach a place of deep relaxation where it can balance the body systems.

Reflexology Reduces Stress

Through the relaxation process the body is more capable of dealing with the stresses placed on it by daily living and those associated with illness. Reflexology gently nudges the body towards improved functioning of the system by improving lymphatic drainage and venous circulation, simulation to the nerve pathways, and muscle relaxation.

Reflexology Releases Feel-Good Hormones

Reflexology therapeutically reduces stress and tension throughout the body’s systems to improve blood and lymph circulation, increase nerve supply to the cells and release toxins from the body's tissues.

It is believed to encourage the release of endorphins, the body's natural feel-good hormones, well documented in their ability to relieve stress.[2]

Reflexology supports the body in its process of self-healing and maintaining the balance that leads to good health. Plus, reflexology feels great and nearly everyone is a candidate for reflexology--even people who are not candidates for traditional massage therapy due to physical restrictions.

Reflexology can also be received anywhere, all you need is a space, a chair and a trained reflexologist. With reflexology, all you remove is footwear.

Reflexology is growing increasing popular across Europe and Asia as a complement to other treatments as well as a preventative measure. Denmark for example, has been employing reflexologists since the early ‘90s to lower the absenteeism rate in the work place.

Employees have consistently reported improvement in conditions where they sought the help of a reflexologist and even relief for additional problems related to stress in just after 6 sessions.
